Budgeting apps for couples
Budgeting together raises questions a solo budget does not: who sees what, who pays, and how you share it. This page states only what each app’s own pages confirm about sharing, and lists separately the apps where we could not confirm it. We do not guess.
How we chose these apps
This page covers apps that we have, or have applied for, affiliate relationships with: Tiller, Monarch Money, YNAB, Rocket Money, Simplifi by Quicken, PocketGuard, EveryDollar. That is the only reason these apps are here. It is not a ranking of every budgeting app on the market, and apps without an affiliate program are not covered, so a good option may be missing. We do not rate, score or rank the apps. Facts come from each app’s official pages, with the date we checked; where we could not read a page we say so. See our disclosure.

Not confirmed
For these apps we could not confirm a sharing feature from a page we could read. That is a gap in our checking, not a statement that the feature is missing.
- PocketGuard: TODO-VERIFY: no sharing or household feature confirmed (pocketguard.com returned HTTP 403) ( source , checked October 16, 2026) Visit PocketGuard
- EveryDollar: TODO-VERIFY: the Household help article returned HTTP 403. Ramsey’s family-budget guide says “You and your spouse share one login.” ( source , checked October 16, 2026) Visit EveryDollar
Things to agree on first
- Do you want one shared budget, or separate budgets and a joint goal?
- Are you both comfortable with full visibility of linked accounts?
- Who will check the budget, and how often? The CFPB’s advice is to review monthly at first.
Start with your numbers: the budget planner shows where your money goes, the savings plan puts a date on a shared goal, and the emergency fund calculator sets a joint target.
Frequently asked questions
Do both partners need to pay?
It depends on the app, and we only state what each one’s pages say: Monarch and YNAB say members share one subscription at no extra cost, and Tiller describes sharing sheets with co-editing, view-only access and access control. Check the source for each app.
Can I hide accounts from my partner?
Monarch’s page says that in a shared household both people have full visibility into all accounts and transactions. For other apps, check the app’s own documentation before you link accounts.
Do we need an app to budget together?
No. You can use our free budget planner together on one device and set a joint goal in the savings plan. Everything stays in the browser.
What if an app is not listed with sharing details?
It means we could not confirm a sharing feature from the app’s official pages. It does not mean the app lacks one. Check the source linked from its page.
